Our Law Clerks
Each year, we hire a few second- or third-year law students to work with us part-time during the academic year and up to full-time during school breaks. They gain meaningful, real-world experience by assisting with legal research and many other aspects of preparing appellate briefs and related materials.
Adrian Castaner

Adrian is a second-year student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.

He previously interned with the Missouri State Appellate Public Defender in Kansas City.

Adrian grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washington University in St. Louis in 2023.
Gerardo Gonzalez

Gerardo is a third-year student at the University of Kansas School of Law.

He previously clerked for litigation firms in El Paso, Texas, and Lawrence, Kansas, and interned with Judge Lisa Soto on the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals and with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

A native of El Paso, Gerardo earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso summa cum laude in 2022.
Danielle Wagner

Danielle is a second-year student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she received the highest grades in her class in Lawyering Skills and Client Interviewing.

She previously interned with a public interest law group in Overland Park, Kansas. Before law school, she was a legal assistant for the U.S. Army Trial Defense Service in North Carolina.

A native of Brighton, Colorado, Danielle earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Texas Christian University in 2022.
